What is the common language spoken at VMworld 2016?
The official language of the conference is English, and all General Sessions, Breakout Sessions and HOLs will be presented in English. Translation services for Japanese and Mandarin will be offered for Monday and Tuesday General Sessions, but will not be provided otherwise. If you elect to bring your own translator, please contact the registration support team.

Is there an age minimum for VMworld?
You must be at least 18 years of age to attend the conference and expo. You must be 21 or older to attend the VMworld evening functions or enter casinos and bars in Las Vegas.

No, you can register online through the last day of the conference. However, there are discounts for early registration. Please visit the conference pricing page for the most current information.

What payments do you accept for VMworld 2016 registration?
When registering, you may pay by credit card, check, or wire transfer. Payment must be received to print a conference badge on-site.

Can I use PSO credits to register?

Do I need a badge?
Yes, a conference badge is required for entry into the conference and should be worn at all times. Please pick up your badge at the VMworld 2016 registration desk during open registration hours. For security purposes, be prepared to show identification. If you lose your badge, you may show photo identification and have it reprinted at a registration check-in deck for a $75 fee.

Do I need a visa to attend the conference?
There are a few countries that require a visa for entry. We recommend checking in advance with your country's local U.S. consulate for details and requirements.

How do I obtain a visa invitation letter?
During the registration process you will be asked if you require a visa letter. In order to request a visa letter from the VMworld team, please be prepared to provide the following information:

Visa invitation letters will be submitted for approval for those attendees that have requested a visa invite letter and have completed registration data for a Full Conference pass including payment. Please note we can only issue visa letters for fully paid attendees and you will need to allow two to three weeks for your embassy to process your request. Visa letter requests will not be accepted after August 1, 2016.

Can I be denied registration for any reason?
VMware reserves the right to deny registration to any individual or entity for any reason, at VMware's sole discretion, including past or present failure to meet VMware's standards of conduct, and also including but not limited to, engaging in violent, illegal, threatening or discriminatory conduct.

Are guests permitted to attend?
Attendees may purchase one Guest Pass for a guest who is 21 years of age or older. The Guest Pass fee is $300 and allows registered guests entry only to the VMworld Welcome Reception and the VMworld Customer Appreciation Party. The Guest Pass does not include access to Breakout Sessions, General Sessions, Hands-on Labs, continental breakfast, lunch, or any other activities that are reserved for attendees with Full Conference passes. Guest Passes can be purchased during online registration or onsite at the conference registration desk.

Can I register for both VMworld US and Europe?
Registration for each event is separate, and you will need to register and pay for each event independently.

Are there any discounts?
Yes, we offer discounts for groups, VMworld alumni, VMUG Advantage Level members, VMware Certified Professionals, and attendees in the government and education sectors. Please visit the conference pricing page for the most current information.

What special dietary requirements are accommodated with the meals at the Conference?
If you have any special dietary requests, please be sure to inform us during the registration process. Limited vegetarian options are available at most Conference-related meal functions.


Do I need to contact the hotel to book my reservation?
No, when you register online for VMworld 2016, you will have an opportunity to request your hotel, check-in and check-out dates, and provide your credit card information. A hotel reservation will be made for you and guaranteed with your credit card.

Do I need to give a credit card to reserve my hotel room?
Yes, a credit card will be needed to confirm your reservation at a designated VMworld 2016 hotel. Please note: One night’s lodging and tax will be charged by the hotel to your credit card upon reservation.

What time is check-in and check-out at the hotels reserved for VMworld?
Standard hotel check-in time is 3:00PM and check-out time is 11:00AM, but these times may vary depending on the hotel you choose.

If I am not registered for VMworld 2016, how do I book my hotel room?
To take advantage of VMworld's discounted room rates, you must be registered for VMworld 2016.

Which hotels offer smoking rooms?
Smoking rooms cannot be guaranteed and are only available upon request at check-in.

What do the hotels cost and how close are they to the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Convention Center?
VMworld discounted room rates range from $50.00 to $189.00. VMworld 2016 hotels include the Mandalay Bay Hotel, Delano Las Vegas, MGM Grand, and Luxor. The Mandalay Bay Hotel and Delano Las Vegas are located onsite. Luxor is adjacent to the Mandalay Bay property and is connected to it by an inter-hotel tram. MGM Grand is located a short distance away.

Do the VMworld preferred hotels offer government rates?
The VMworld hotel rates over the conference dates are the lowest available rates. Government rates are typically offered at 10% off the current rack rate. VMworld rates are currently 20-25% lower than the available hotel rack rates.


What is Content Catalog, and how does the schedule builder feature work?
Content Catalog is available to the public and is the comprehensive list of Breakout Sessions, Hands-on Labs, Group Discussions and more. Registered attendees and prospective attendees alike use the catalog to check out topics and speakers and find their sessions of interest.

Our schedule builder functionality is built right into Content Catalog*. If you’re registered for VMworld as a Full Conference Pass attendee, you can pre-register for sessions, mark sessions as favorites for further review and start building out your personal agenda for the week.

Breakout Sessions can fill up quickly, so we recommend you pre-register at your earliest convenience.

Please note: When you use the schedule builder feature to pre-register for a session, you’re guaranteed a seat only if you arrive at least 5 minutes before the session begins. At 5 minutes beforehand, we open the doors to drop-ins, space permitting, and you’ll no longer be assured of seating. Please ensure you arrive at your sessions on time so you don’t miss out.
