What is VMworld?
VMworld, hosted by VMware, is the industry's premier digital infrastructure event. VMworld 2018 US brings you five days of innovation to accelerate your journey to a software-defined business—from mobile devices to the data center and the cloud.

What is the common language spoken at VMworld?
The official language of the conference is English, and all general sessions, breakout sessions, and hands-on labs will be presented in English. If you wish to bring a translator, please contact the VMworld team for more information.
Is there an age minimum for VMworld?
You must be at least 18 years of age to attend the conference and enter the Solutions Exchange. You must be 21 or older to attend the VMworld US evening functions or enter casinos and bars in Las Vegas.
What is the recommended conference attire?
Casual to business dress is appropriate. We do recommend dressing in layers as temperatures can vary in the convention center.
I'm new to VMworld. Can you provide any other guidance?
We offer a special orientation session just for first-timers. Join us for the NewV welcome session, which will be held on Sunday afternoon. It's a fun event where you'll connect with other new attendees, get details to help you plan and navigate your way through VMworld, and learn tips and tricks to make your visit more successful.

What are the registration fees for the event?

What payments do you accept for VMworld registration?
When registering, you may pay by credit card or wire transfer. Payment must be received to print a conference badge on-site.
Are there any discounts?
Yes, we offer discounts for groups, VMworld alumni, VMUG Advantage Level members, VMware Certified Professionals, and attendees in the government and education sectors.
What is included in the registration fee?

Is there a deadline for registration?
No, there's no deadline. You can register online through the last day of the conference. However, there are discounts for early registration.
Can I be denied registration for any reason?
VMware reserves the right to deny registration to any individual or entity for any reason, at VMware's sole discretion, including past or present failure to meet VMware's standards of conduct, and also including (but not limited to) engaging in violent, illegal, threatening, or discriminatory conduct.
Can I register for both VMworld US and Europe?
Registration for each event is separate, and you will need to register and pay for each event independently.
Will I need a badge to get in?
Yes, a conference badge is required for entry into the conference and should be worn at all times. You'll be able to pick up your badge at the VMworld registration desk during open registration hours. For security purposes, be prepared to show identification. If you lose your badge, you may show photo identification and have it reprinted at a registration check-in desk for a $75 fee.
Do I need a visa to attend the conference?
There are a few countries that require a visa for entry. We recommend checking in advance with your country's local U.S. consulate for details and requirements.
How do I obtain a visa invitation letter?
During the registration process you will be asked if you require a visa letter. In order to request a visa letter from the VMworld team, please be prepared to provide the following information:
Visa invitation letters will be submitted for approval for attendees who have requested a letter and have completed registration data for a full conference pass, including payment. Please note we can only issue visa letters for fully paid attendees and you will need to allow two to three weeks for your embassy to process your request. Visa letter requests will not be accepted after July 27, 2018.
What special dietary requirements are accommodated with the meals at VMworld US?
If you have any special dietary requests, please be sure to inform us during the registration process. Limited vegetarian and wheat-free options are available at most conference-related meal functions.

Do I need to contact the hotel to book my reservation?
No, when you register online for VMworld, you will have an opportunity to request your hotel and your check-in and check-out dates, and will need to provide your credit card information. A hotel reservation will be made for you and guaranteed with your credit card.
Do I need to give a credit card to reserve my room?
Yes, a credit card will be needed to confirm your reservation at a designated VMworld 2018 US hotel. Please note: One night's lodging and tax will be charged by the hotel to your credit card upon reservation.
Will I receive a hotel confirmation?
Yes, your hotel confirmation will be sent to you once VMworld US registration is complete, and your hotel booking made. The hotel confirmation email will include your check-in and check-out dates, together with the hotel name and address. You will not receive a confirmation number for your booking.
If I am not registered for VMworld US, how do I book my hotel room?
You are free to make your own reservations directly with the hotel of your choice. However, to take advantage of VMworld's discounted room rates, you must be registered for VMworld US and make your hotel arrangements via the VMworld booking process.
Which hotels are official VMworld US hotels?
Official VMworld hotels include Mandalay Bay, Four Seasons Hotel, Delano Las Vegas, MGM Grand, The Signature at MGM Grand, and Luxor.
How close are the hotels to Mandalay Bay?
VMworld US hotels include Mandalay Bay, Four Seasons Hotel, Delano Las Vegas, MGM Grand, The Signature at MGM Grand and Luxor. Mandalay Bay, the Four Seasons, and Delano are located onsite. Luxor is adjacent to the Mandalay Bay property and is connected to it by an inter-hotel tram. MGM Grand and The Signature at MGM Grand are located a short distance away. Shuttles will run in 20 minute frequencies on Sunday and 15 minute frequencies Monday through Thursday.
Which hotels offer smoking rooms?
Smoking rooms cannot be guaranteed and are only available upon request at check-in.
What is the content catalog?
The VMworld 2018 US content catalog provides a comprehensive list of breakout sessions, hands-on labs, and other sessions. Registered attendees and prospective attendees alike use the catalog to check out topics and speakers and find their “sessions of interest.”
Can I preregister for sessions?
Yes! The content catalog's built-in scheduling feature will be available in July. At that point, if you have completed your registration and payment for VMworld, you can preregister for sessions and begin building out your personal schedule for the week. Because breakout sessions can fill up quickly, we advise preregistering at your earliest convenience.
Can I get copies of the material presented at the conference?
Yes, presentations will be posted after VMworld 2018. Please note that only those sessions that are pre-approved for publication are made available online. To view sessions from past VMworlds, please visit our on-demand library.
