What is the common language spoken at VMworld 2017?
The official language of the conference is English, and all general sessions, breakout sessions and hands-on labs will be presented in English. If you wish to bring a translator, please contact the VMworld team for more information.

Is there an age minimum for VMworld?
You must be at least 18 years of age to attend the conference and expo.

Is there a deadline for registration?
No, you can register online through the last day of the conference. However, there are discounts for early registration. Please visit the conference pricing page for the most current information – 2017 rates are published in the spring.

Can I be denied registration for any reason?
VMware reserves the right to deny registration to any individual or entity for any reason, at VMware's sole discretion, including past or present failure to meet VMware's standards of conduct, and also including (but not limited to) engaging in violent, illegal, threatening or discriminatory conduct.

Can I register for both VMworld Europe and US?
Registration for each event is separate, and you will need to register and pay for each event independently.


Will I need a badge to get in?
Yes, a conference badge is required for entry into the conference and should be worn at all times. Please pick up your badge at the VMworld registration desk during open registration hours. For security purposes, be prepared to show identification. If you lose your badge, you may show photo identification and have it reprinted at a registration check-in deck for a €50 fee.

Do I need a visa to attend the conference?
There are a few countries that require a visa for entry. We recommend checking in advance with your country's local Spanish consulate for details and requirements.

How do I obtain a visa invitation letter?
During the registration process you will be asked if you require a visa letter. In order to request a visa letter from the VMworld team, please be prepared to provide the following information: Visa invitation letters will be submitted for approval for those attendees that have requested a visa invite letter and have completed registration data for a Full Conference Pass including payment. Please note we can only issue visa letters for fully paid attendees and you will need to allow two to three weeks for your embassy to process your request. Visa letter requests will not be accepted after 11 August 2017.


What special dietary requirements are accommodated with the meals at VMworld?
If you have any special dietary requests, please be sure to inform us during the registration process. Limited vegetarian options are available at most conference-related meal functions.


Do I need to contact the hotel to book my reservation?
No, when you register online for VMworld, you will have an opportunity to request your hotel and your check-in and check-out dates, and will provide your credit card information. A hotel reservation will be made for you and guaranteed with your credit card.

Do I need to give a credit card to reserve my hotel room?
Yes, a credit card will be needed to confirm your reservation at a designated VMworld 2017 Europe hotel.

Will I receive a hotel confirmation?
Yes, your hotel confirmation will be included within your registration confirmation emails for VMworld 2017. The email will include your check-in and out dates, together with the hotel name and address. You will not receive a confirmation number for your booking.

If I am not registered for VMworld 2017, how do I book my hotel room?
You may certainly book a hotel directly. However, to take advantage of VMworld's discounted room rates, you must be registered for VMworld 2017.

Which hotels offer smoking rooms?
Smoking rooms cannot be guaranteed and are only available upon request at check-in.

How close are the hotels to the Fira Gran Via?
There are 40+ hotels located throughout Barcelona. Some are walking distance from the venue, while others may require a taxi or Metro ride. You may view our 2016 hotel list for reference; we will provide updated 2017 information soon.

Are there conference shuttles between the VMworld hotels and the venue?
There are no shuttles between the hotels and the Fira Gran Via. To get to the venue you can take the Metro to either Europa Fira station (17-minute walk) or Fira station (7-minute walk).


When will the content catalog be available?
Our content catalog will be published June 23, 2017 and is available to the public. It is the comprehensive list of breakout sessions, hands-on labs, group discussions and other sessions. Registered attendees and prospective attendees alike use the catalog to check out topics and speakers and find their “sessions of interest.”

Can I pre-register for sessions?
Yes! Once our sessions are actually scheduled, registered attendees can use the content catalog’s built-in scheduling feature to pre-register for sessions and begin building out their personal schedules for the week. The scheduling feature should be available on July 18, 2017. Because breakout sessions can fill up quickly, we advise pre-registering at your earliest convenience.

Can I get copies of the material presented at the conference?
Yes, the presentations will be posted after VMworld 2017. Please note that only those sessions that are pre-approved for publication are made available online. To view sessions from past VMworld events, please visit our on-demand library.
