What is VMworld?
VMworld, hosted by VMware, is the industry's premier digital infrastructure event. VMworld 2018 Europe brings you four days of innovation to accelerate your journey to a software-defined business—from mobile devices to the data center and the cloud.

Who attends VMworld?
VMworld attendees are a mix of IT technical professionals and business decision-makers from organizations of all sizes, representing a wide range of industries.

When and where will VMworld 2018 Europe take place?
VMworld 2018 Europe will take place 5 – 8 November 2018 at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain.

What is the common language spoken at VMworld?
The official language of the conference is English, and all general sessions, breakout sessions, and hands-on labs will be presented in English.

Is there an age minimum for VMworld?
You must be at least 18 years of age to attend the conference and enter the Solutions Exchange.

What is the recommended conference attire?
Casual to business dress is appropriate. We do recommend dressing in layers as temperatures can vary in the event center.

What are the registration fees for the event?

What payments do you accept for VMworld registration?
When registering, you may pay by credit card or wire transfer. Payment must be received to print a conference badge on-site. Registration fees are subject to Spanish tax at 10%.

Are there any discounts?
Yes, we offer discounts for groups, VMworld alumni, VMUG Advantage Level members, and VMware Certified Professionals. 

What is included in the registration fee?
Your registration fee for a full conference pass at VMworld Europe entitles you to the following:

  • Welcome reception
  • General sessions
  • Breakout sessions (Please note: Some sessions are restricted to VMware partners or other select groups of attendees)
  • VMware Hands-on Labs
  • VMworld Fest, the official conference party
  • Solutions Exchange
  • Lunch and refreshments


Is there a deadline for registration?
No, there is no deadline. You can register online through the last day of the conference. However, there are discounts for early registration. 

Can I be denied registration for any reason?
VMware reserves the right to deny registration to any individual or entity for any reason, at VMware's sole discretion, including past or present failure to meet VMware's standards of conduct, and also including (but not limited to) engaging in violent, illegal, threatening, or discriminatory conduct.

Can I register for both VMworld Europe and US?
Registration for each event is separate, and you will need to register and pay for each event independently.




Will I need a badge to get in?
Yes, a conference badge is required for entry into the conference and should be worn at all times. You'll be able to pick up your badge at the VMworld registration desk during open registration hours. For security purposes, be prepared to show identification. If you lose your badge, you may show photo identification and have it reprinted at the registration queries desk for a €50 fee.

Do I need a visa to attend the conference?
There are a few countries that require a visa for entry. We recommend checking in advance with your country's local Spanish consulate for details and requirements.

How do I obtain a visa invitation letter?
During the registration process you will be asked if you require a visa letter. In order to request a visa letter from the VMworld team, please be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Full name on passport
  • Date and place of birth
  • Gender
  • Nationality
  • Passport number, place and date of issue, and date of expiration
  • Are you a government official [yes, no]

Visa invitation letters will be submitted for approval for attendees who have requested a letter and have completed registration data for a full conference pass, including payment. Please note we can only issue visa letters for fully paid attendees and you will need to allow two to three weeks for your embassy to process your request. Visa letter requests will not be accepted after 5 October 2018.



What special dietary requirements are accommodated with the meals at VMworld?
If you have any special dietary requests, please be sure to inform us during the registration process. Limited vegetarian and gluten-free options are available at most conference-related meal functions.


Do I need to contact the hotel to book my reservation?
No, when you register online for VMworld, you will have an opportunity to request your hotel and your check-in and check-out dates, and will need to provide your credit card information. A hotel reservation will be made for you and guaranteed with your credit card.

Do I need to give a credit card to reserve my hotel room?
Yes, a credit card will be needed to confirm your reservation at a designated VMworld 2018 Europe hotel.

Will I receive a hotel confirmation?
Yes, your hotel confirmation will be sent to you once VMworld 2018 registration is complete, and your hotel booking made. The hotel confirmation email will include your check-in and check-out dates, together with the hotel name and address. You will not receive a confirmation number for your booking.

If I am not registered for VMworld 2018, how do I book my hotel room?
You may book a hotel directly. However, to take advantage of VMworld's discounted room rates, you must be registered for VMworld 2018 and make your hotel arrangements via the VMworld booking process.

Which hotels offer smoking rooms?
Smoking rooms cannot be guaranteed and are only available upon request at check-in.

How close are the hotels to the Fira Gran Via?
There are 40+ hotels located throughout Barcelona. Some are walking distance from the venue, while others may require a taxi or Metro ride.

Are there conference shuttles between the VMworld hotels and the venue?
There are no shuttles between the hotels and the Fira Gran Via. To get to the venue you can take the Metro to either Europa Fira station (17-minute walk) or Fira station (7-minute walk).


What is the content catalog?
The VMworld 2018 Europe content catalog provides a comprehensive list of breakout sessions, hands-on labs, and other sessions. Registered attendees and prospective attendees alike can use the catalog to check out topics and speakers and find their “sessions of interest.”

Can I preregister for sessions?
Yes! The content catalog's built-in scheduling feature is now available. Attendees who have registered with full conference passes can begin building out a personal schedule for the week. Because breakout sessions can fill up quickly, we advise preregistering at your earliest conveneince.

Can I get copies of the material presented at the conference?
Yes, the presentations will be posted after VMworld 2018. Please note that only those sessions that are pre-approved for publication are made available online.
