Session Title:

Reducing the environmental footprint of your data storage

Session Abstract:

Choosing the right storage virtualisation technology can make or break the promise of a greener IT infrastructure. Andy Hardy, Managing Director, International Sales at Compellent, will explain why traditional SAN systems lack the flexibility and feature set that can decrease or even eliminate the need for storage purchases and, consequently, minimize the financial and environmental costs of powering, cooling and housing storage equipment.
Hardy will outline how combining innovative technologies such as automated tiered storage, thin provisioning and advanced virtualisation can enable much more effective storage resource utilization. In addition, the session will explore how financial and environmental savings can be achieved by combining server and storage virtualisation. He will also explain how organisations can potentially remove 93% of the power consumption and power costs of data storage and achieve their green CSR targets at a departmental and company-wide level.
