BlackJack

I haven't been to Vegas for over 10 years and I like a bit of BlackJack. What are the small tables there now? $5 tables?

Also, where is a good online place to find out the rules and good guidelines to play BlackJack smartly? I don't want to loose all my money in one hand. ;)

Re: BlackJack
I'm not sure if too many places on the Strip have anything less than $5 for a buy-in. But I do know for sure you can play for less at some of the places downtown, Freemont St, which is a blast!

Re: BlackJack
You will need to look far and wide on the strip for any table games that are less than $ 10.00. DownTown area you will find 5.00 tables everywhere and it's a good time also.

Re: BlackJack
Google will yield you all the advice you need on BlackJack systems.

My only recommendation, would be to NOT play from Third base. This is the seat all the way to the left, the one that acts last after everyone and makes the decision just before the dealer does. You'll get blamed for everything, especially if you should have hit or not hit, and the dealer wins. It will be all your fault :-)

Of course if you cause the dealer to bust and make everyone win, you'll be the hero. But mostly you'll get chastised if you don't play "correctly" from that position.

Good luck !

Here's basic strategy chart - http://www.vegastripping.com/images/blackjack_basicstrategy.gif - Print it and take it with you.

I say we make Eric the ringer and make him split all the faces, double down on 12-19, and stand on 11 and below. That should make for a rowdy table http://www.vmworld.com/vmworld/images/emoticons/happy.gif

Dont forget to Hit on Ace and Face card (21). That should make for a good time.

Re: BlackJack

oh yeah ! ... forgot to list that one, that is PURE double down play, you can't get much better of an 11 than that. Eric, write that one down in your play book :-)

I got your back for the brawl that will ensue, I promise ]:)

We are going to have to setup an appointment for VMware blackjack. This discussion is needs to be played out on a table full of VMware World attendees.

Re: BlackJack
Yes, downtown (Freemont street) is very safe. Although it's a little far from the strip. I second the plan to take over a blackjack table and make it the VMware table. Maybe Eric can put it on the community calendar for us :-)

My primary job at the show it to tweet, so just ping me there, or follow us on the tweet stream - http://www.twitter.com/delltechcenter - and I'll blast out where we can play. I get there on Friday night (12th), I LOVE Vegas - would leave today if possible.

Re: BlackJack

I was there last summer, and the only place on the strip I found with $5 blackjack was, believe it or not, the Bellagio. They had two $5 tables out of the hundreds of higher denomination tables (so you have to really look to find them). They're also quite busy, as you might suspect.

If I recall accurately, last summer Venetian had only $10 - $15 minimum blackjack tables. The limits tend to change however based on the time of day and day of the week. Evenings are typically higher limits that mornings & afternoons, and Weekends are typically higher limits that weekdays.

Hope this info is helpful!
