I second the need for an integrated scheduler. It would also be nice if this scheduler showed you previous jobs, and their success/failure rate.

Vranger also really needs a way to make groups of vms to backup. Dont make me put the vms in folders in virtual center, let me just pick and choose which ones I want for each job.

More confident test messages during install rather than the classic message after testing the connection to Virtual Center Server of: "Those settings appear to work." Every time I work with customers to install vRanger we get a really good laugh at Vizioncore's expense.

I would like to see vRanger become a complete solution for disk-based backup for customers with block level de-dupe that allows customers to leverage any ole file server with redundant drives for their backup target.

Also, support Linux destinations for backup like you do Windows file shares. Not everyone is a Windows shop and being able to through your favorite distro on a box with lot of disks would help you sell more vRanger to folks tired of managing their Perl hack-age.

And personally, I would like Vizioncore to offer a limited edition, boxed version of vRanger signed by George Pradel himself. Is that too much to ask?

1. Single Pass File Restore with Catalog Feature
   1. GIve the ability to view all files backed-up in the VMDK and the ability to select any/all files for restore before the restore process begins. Then only restore the selected files like the file add-on does today only in a tightly integrated setup.
   2. This is mostly there today IMO
2. Integrated Scheduler - this was mentioned above as possibly in v4...
3. More scheduing options - give the ability to setup exactly what days the fulls vs. diffs run. Today you rely on the number of days after the full, not the exact day of the week.
4. Better method than retendays. This is way too confusing - there should be an easy way to setup the software to retain the backups for x days, not some wierd setting for retention that is actually double the number you input.
5. Better logging and reporting.
   1. Option for log cleaning automatically after so long. Today we are manually cleaning the log directories
   2. "Dashboard" option to quickly see the pass/fail status on all backup jobs and easily select a day to see the status of the jobs for that day
6. Speed/Speed/Speed - restores are massively slow with the file plugin. Need some serious speed improvements here when you are wanting the file level restoration. Full VMDK is not too bad...

That is my wishlist,

Better mounting of the file system when trying to do it on the proxy. Had it for 2 years now and still cant mount a drive.

I would like to see two things in the new version:

1- Delegation

2- Integration in the VI Client
