New to VMWare


Hi

My name is Faizal and i'm new to VM. I have downloaded and installed ESX 3.5 on an Intel Server and it starts up to loading Kernel..................ok and nothing happens there after, pls any suggestions or help would be appreciated, Thanks

Faizal,

Welcome. Have you verified that the hardware is on the approved list? You might get better assistance with this type of problem over at http:\\www.vmware.com\vmtn as that is the support forum.

If you've successfully gotten through the ESX installation then your hardware must be on the HCL (unless you supplied the noapic command during install). If your install was successful then it would lead me to believe you have either a hardware issue (disk failure, etc.) or just a bad install... Since the install only takes 5-10 minutes I would test that theory first and do a re-install of the ESX software.
