Re: Application list?
Transitive maintains a comprehensive library of popular Solairs/SPARC applications that are used for automated testing during each release of QuickTransit. While it is not possible to get hold of every one of the tens of thousands of Solaris/SPARC applications, we do focus on those we see being used often by our enterprise customers. These include most of those you mentioned, and probably the application we see most often being migrated using QuickTransit is Oracle 8. Transitive has established technology partnerships with most of the leading enterprise ISVs and OS vendors, to ensure that our support team can replicate a customer's environment if there are problems. However, since the list of ISVs and applications is so large, Transitive does not have a formal 'certification' program for specific applications.
Also, it is important to keep in mind that most enterprise customers start by using QuickTransit for migrating internally-developed applications and shell scripts before they look at moving ISV products. Of course, if the ISV offers a native port of the application for x86 platforms, then that would provide better performance.
In some cases, customers may use QuickTransit cross-platform virtualization on a temporary basis until a native port becomes available. For example, it took more than a year after the launch of the x86-based Apple Macs before a native x86 version of Microsoft Office was shipped. In the mean time, millions of Mac users ran the previous PowerPC version of Microsoft Office via Transitive's cross-platform virtualization (branded as "Rosetta" by Apple) and many still do.
