Server sizing tool?

Hi,

I am looking for some server sizing tool to analyze and do the capacity planning of the existing physical server, so that I can find number of virtual machines/servers can be created.

Please refer tools other than capacity planner on vmware site.

Thanks,

Hiren

There is VMWare guided consolidation that you get along with VC 2.5 ..

Also , There are tools from various vendors like HP ,IBM and Plate Spin ..

Re: Server sizing tool?

Best option would be calculate manually / go for VMware Capacity planner software. (For Professional management)

Re: Server sizing tool?

There are third software party which offers more to your needs, Capacity Planner are to evaluate min 25 servers. I'm sure you can self record if you are analizing a single server.

Thanks

Re: Server sizing tool?
Another potential is from PERFMAN (www.perfman.com). Their solution
does cross-platform capacity and performance management and modeling
and they have a solution for full virtualization lifecycle management.

The
difference is that they can aggregate data from thousands of VMware ESX
servers and from multiple Virtual Centers. And, they gather and
analyze much more data than soem of the other tools. Forexample, they
show the overhead of the ESX layer as well as the guest and they can
see inside Windows and Linux guests and pull loads of data from the
Windows and LInux OS within the guests as well.
