Hello Andre,
I'm also planning on installing the APC Network Shutdown and I'm searching for information.
This is what I have found on the APC website (see 2 attached documents).
I was hoping to find a Virtual Center solution, so that you can centrally manage the shutdown of Windows servers and ESX servers. So far I haven't found this kind of solution.
Did you get any further with your installation ?
I'm thinking about another solution.
Our infrastructure is build on IBM equipment. I'm also investigating the possibility of using IBM Director in combination with IBM Virtualization Manager 1.2 to powerdown vm's and hosts.
IBM Director
--> http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/management/director/
IBM Virtualization Manager
--> http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/management/director/extensions/vm.html
With IBM Director you can manage your hardware, and the Virtualization Manager gives you the possibility to manage your VM's.
The next step is to create actions in IBM Director for your VM's (vmotion, shutdown) or your hosts (shutdown) when a hardware error occurs or power failure. APC has a plugin for IBM Director, so in theory it should be possible to power down (or power up) vm's and hosts based upon power outages.
I'll keep you informed about my progress.
Best regards,
Luc
