which security measure are taken for monitoring agents to connect with vmware?

what measures are taken to reduce Hypervisor monitoring overhead?

Monitoring Data can be represented in how many formats by default like Raw, XML or JSON etc ?

I will be very thankful for ur replies
P2V procedure required..

Hello.

I've knocked together a document you may want to have a look at in VMware's VI:OPS website, it covers my approach to P2Vs.

Visit : http://viops.vmware.com/home/index.jspa

Go into the Strategy section then select select the document entitled
"Proven Practice : Preparing for a Physical to Virtual migration (P2V) - a guide from real world experience."

There may be a few snippets of useful information in there for you.

Regards,
Storage, storage, storage....

My CEO came up to me lately and asked me to give me a range of possiblities of Storage devices to use with VMware. Immediately I came up with Netapp, Dell EqualLogic en Lefthand(HP) storage vendors. But if you take a look at MKB(middle and small business term used in the Netherlands) these can still be very expensive.

Now Lefthand is the one I know that has VSA, Virtual Storage Appliance to use within VMware. You can use the host-attached storage of your hosts as an ISCSI SAN... that's cool.

Is anyone out there familiar with other, 'cheaper' storage systems that can be used for small business?

Connect Storage LUNs on Guest OS of ESX 3.5 server.
Hi All,

I am having 2 guest os on my ESX 3.5 server. Now I had assigned luns to my ESX server from storage.

But still I am not able to view those luns in my guest os.

If i use fdisk -l or esxcfg-mpath -l command on esx server, then it is showing me lun, which i had created on Array.

Is there any other thing i need to configure?

Anyone have idea on this?

Thanks & Regads,
