How to upgrade the ESX 3.0.1 to 3.5 without down time?


I have installed the ESX 3.0.1 on HP DL 380. Now i want to upgrade the ESX 3.0.1 to 3.5 without down time. Is it possible?

That will only be possible if you have a ESX clustered environment with VMotion enabled.

Hello, as already mentioned above you will need a clustered enviroment with VMotion enabled to free up the ESX hosts to be upgraded.

To perform the upgrade I would recommend the following steps:
1) Udate your ESX hosts to the most current version of 3.0 (v3.0.3) to get VirtualCenter 2.5 support.
2) Update your VirtualCenter to v2.5
3) Upgrade your ESX host to 3.5 after each other.
... uprade without down time done!
