I'm headed there for both.... but mostly the swag! I promised the guys I work with that I'd bring back plenty of swag to share with them since they aren't able to come.

Well the company I work for buys shed loads of kit from you, so I expect to come away fully loaded with top notch freebies. Now, where did I store the photo.....

You going to have any info around the new blades that are due out soon, I like the thought of filling a few racks full of them, virtualising everything on them, hosting them in my garage & then closing down one of our data centres?

I wouldn't mind taking a look at an Equallogic PS5500E if there's one in the booth, although I'm not sure we'll go quite that large on this year's iSCSI purchase.  But we will be adding to our existing PS300E and PS100E fleet this year, so who knows.

As for swag, the more the better!

If by swag you mean this, then the swag. Otherwise I've had my fill of pens, knick knacks, odd LED things and plastic bags.  I'm interested in hearing about your blade offerings as well, and as a dell customer, I want to know why I want to migrate to that and away from the odds and ends that I'm currently running.  I also want to know why my sales staff never tells me about the bulk discounts from VMware, thus driving my licensing dollars elsewhere.

No ones going to argue with the chance to win a free laptop.  Oddly enough, I speced one of those out last night and it came in at just over 2K.

As an aside, I'd have been more interested in trying to win 1 of 4 mini's as opposed to 1of 1 super latitudes.  It is Vegas, gotta work the odds

Well, my schedule is full, and I won't be attending any of the Dell breakout sessions.  I was responsible for my company's purchase of Dell/Equallogic storage, will likely recommend more, and have influence on the purchase of other hardware.

Guess your marketing department doesn't want me to bother coming by the booth, since I can only win stuff if I go to a breakout?

I guess I've never understood the logic behind marketing decisions.

I think that we are going to have some of the new EqualLogic arrays in the booth.  Checking to see.  So that would be a reason to come by right?  (I think iSCSI arrays are more cool than laptops anyway).

Yeah, it's reason enough.  But I'm still bitter I can't win something there.  Maybe I'll steal your pen and we'll call it even.

I think there are multiple powers at work here:

1) cool tech to see

2) cool tech to maybe win.

While the idea of winning an iSCSI array for my very own is intriguing,  there's a limit to what's acceptable to "cool" tech that is actually functional @ home.  My wife would think it was the epitome of "uncool" after seeing the first electrical bill with it online.

I'll be by to see your iSCSI array offerings with my work hat on, but no bones about it, I'm signing up to win a laptop with the full assumption that in the off chance that I win, that new laptop falls well within the acceptable range of "cool".

(This argument excludes a friend of mine and people like him that think that using a server rack full of equipment in your basement is a completely reasonable way to heat your house in the winter.)
