By now, many of you may be familiar with Steve the Server Guy, having seen him wandering the Moscone Center wearing his sandwich board and a glum expression. But, do you know his story? Who is Steve? What has pushed Steve to the brink -- to offering up his provisioning skills in exchange for food?

All of these questions and more will be answered at our 30-minute multi-media presentation entitled "newScale and Steve the Server Guy:  A Journey from Virtual Chaos to Virtual Stardom," at the Solutions Exchange Theater at 4:30pm on Wednesday, Sept 2nd. You'll hear of Steve's plight and the plight of so many beleaguered sys admins and their overworked, under-managed virtual data centers. You'll learn all about newScale's Service Catalog for VMware and what it can do to save the likes of Steve and his sys admin brethren. You'll also be able to enter a raffle for some fabulous prizes, including a Flip Video HD and gift certificates for delicious food. Oh, how Steve will envy you!

Additionally, you can show your solidarity with Steve and his ilk with this dazzlingly fashionable t-shirt:

Available at the newScale booth (in the Innovators Pavilion, beneath the "New Innovators" banner), free for a limited time and in limited quantities, the Will Provision for Food t-shirt is not only a stylish way of showing your support, but also your ticket to delicious prizes, including gift certificates to popular restaurants, where they serve -- you guessed it: FOOD. That's right, if you're spotted wearing the Will Provision for Food t-shirt, our prize team may just descend upon you in a flurry of prize-bestowing frenzy. It's a win-win-win!

So, stop by the newScale booth to learn much more about Steve, his sign, his shirts and newScale's Service Catalog for VMware. Of course, if you can't make it, you don't have to miss out! The newScale Service Catalog for VMware is currently available as a 14-day trial. Howdy, folks!

We'd love to spend some time hanging out with you while you're here in the Bay Area! Rodrigo Flores, newScale's CTO, is organizing a casual meetup over at the Montgomery Cigar Bar & Grill on Tuesday night around 9PM.

More info about the meetup can be found on the Cloud Front Office blog, but for your convenience, I've pasted in the text of the post here:

Real CloudComputing at #VMware #VMWorld will Happen Here: Join us Tue Night 9pm

I'm arranging a tweet up for people attending VMWorld at the Montgomery at the Cigar Bar and Grill in San Francisco on Tuesday at 9 pm. This is going to be a casual meet up for people who are interested in both cloud computing and blowing clouds.  I call it the real cloud computing summit (drums!).

At any rate, it's  a very nice yet casual place, with a beautiful heated patio and great selection of cigars and drinks.  Several people will be there, but it's just a casual meet up. Show up, grab a drink / cigar and say hello.

For those not familiar with San Francisco, the place is not too far from the hotels, but if you want to cab it, it's about 5 minutes. SF is not that big.

Also, @ericsiebert and @jasonboche are headed out Monday night at 10pm for a stogie at the Occidental Cigar Club where I plan to join them as well.  I'm not familiar with the Occidental but it's also close by.

Some of you may be unfamiliar with newScale and our Service Catalog for VMware, so, we thought we'd put together a little true/false quiz to help you get to know us a little better. Most of the answers can be found on our site or can be arrived at through simple deduction. Ready?

TRUE OR FALSE:

1. newScale's Service Catalog for VMware ensures effective governance, optimizes resource utilization, prevents virtual server sprawl, and maximizes your ROI from virtualization.

2. Virtual server sprawl poses a serious environmental hazard to adorable and defenseless puppies and kittens who only wanted to be your friends.

3. newScale's Service Catalog for VMware allows you to control who can request a VM with automatic entitlement-based approvals, role-based approvals, or both.

4. Role-playing games like "Dungeons and Dragons" are not only fun, but an excellent way to meet potential dates and make new friends.

5. newScale's Service Catalog for VMware allows you to manage the entire VM lifecycle, from request to decommissioning, so you can better align capacity with demand for VMs.

6. Sometimes you have that dream where you're flying, but all of a sudden you're falling and you wake up just before you hit the ground. Man, you have that dream all the time.

7. newScale's Service Catalog for VMware allows you to configure the VM request form to record everything you need to complete your server build sheet.

8. CD's and MP3s are great, but nothing will ever beat vinyl.

9. newScale's Service Catalog for VMware is currently available to qualified VMware vCenter™ customers for a free trial period of 14 days.

10. Calling the free trial period "a fortnight," while technically accurate, would be totally uncool.

So, how'd you do? If you'd like to leave your answers in the comments, I'd be happy to go over them with you. Hopefully, this little quiz helped you learn a little bit about newScale, our Service Catalog for VMware, and, hey, maybe even a little bit about yourself.

Talk to you again, soon!

Hello, VMworld attendees and VMware enthusiasts! Hello, Freedom!

We're very excited to be exhibiting at this year's VMworld and really hope you'll stop by our booth (for delicious PEZ and possible secret prizes) and attend our multi-media presentation (more PEZ, more prizes).

Wondering what newScale and our market-leading Service Catalog solutions will be doing at VMworld? We'll be showcasing our  newScale FrontOffice Suite for the Virtual Data Center. Please allow me to get my finger-quotes ready before I tell you more...

READY.

newScale will be at VMworld to tell as many system administrators, enterprise architects, server operations managers, and application development project managers how our "VDC" solution provides the perfect "operating model" to complement VMware's market-leading virtualization technology.

No longer do users or project managers have to guess about where to request servers and how to track those requests over time.  No longer do server delivery teams need to kill themselves with relentless "back-and-forth" to capture all necessary user requirements.  And when app dev starts going through VMs like candy, server ops no longer has to feel like PEZ dispensers without knowing SQUAT about who wants it, why, and for how long -- and how this can create an unmanageable VM

"sprawl" problem that costs real money and poses real business risk.

BUT WAIT . . . THERE'S MORE

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, now newScale is allowing interested parties to try the Workgroup Edition of this solution for FREE FREE FREE!  Stop by the Innovators Pavilion in the Solutions Exchange Expo and request one as fast as it takes to get a free wad of PEZ from our giant PEZ dispenser.

And you can learn even more about newScale's Service Catalog for VMware solution by looking for Steve the Server Guy. Yes, poor Steve had a dickens of a time managing his overworked and under-managed virtual data center.  He'll be at the show in many places, looking a lot like he looks below:

So if you see him, make sure you say "Hey Steve the Server Guy, how are you doing?"  And he'll tell you and will invite you to come by the Solutions Exchange Theater at 4:30pm on Wednesday, Sept 2nd -- for a 30-minute multi-media presentation entitled "newScale and Steve the Server Guy:  A Journey from Virtual Chaos to Virtual Stardom".

You'll hear about Steve's plight, the outcome of his journey was, and you might just win a Flip Video HD Camcorder or other great raffle prizes - if you, of course, you are present to win.

If you aren't going to be at VMworld this year but want to learn more about newScale's Service Catalog for VMware free trial offer, set a spell right HERE and you'll learn all you need to know.

Hope to see you in San Francisco!
