Last day at VMworld 2008

Posted by amitabhc Sep 18, 2008

The conference is winding down. Some folks are still finishing their labs and session. However most of the labs are almost over. The Solution Exchange is still buzzing with lots of crowd. The Blogger Lounge is crowded as usual.

There is a plan to have a tweet up at the Blogger Lounge. It is amazing that new technology is giving rise to a whole new terminology of words. Tweeting is now a verb, and we have listed a whole list on this site.

Second Day of VMworld 2008

Posted by amitabhc Sep 16, 2008

Today seems like the conference really took off. The keynote address by Paul Maritz was great. Comments from an online blogger was - "VMware is the only IT vendor that has been open about its product plans". Pending permision , I will quote his name on this blog.

Buzz around vCloud,.Lot of response over the blogs and tweets. Here are sample of some of the tweets:

latoga: I see future where your vInfrastructure tell you you need more capacity and direct you to vCloud provider to close gap

cjankow: VMware vEVERYTHING, Apple iEVERYTHING Great companies, changing the world, one letter ahead of all the rest.

There seem to be a lot of energy this year both for the sessions and at the solution exchange floor.

I spent this morning at the back stage preparing for one of our slides. Then I got to mee the Wingate team, which was cool since we worked on the vmworld project.

Blogging as the keynote speech is going on. We are in the backstage looking at the demo and the opening speech. This is my first time being in the back stage during for such a big event. Everything is going clockwork, right on que. The whole crew is amazing, there is no conversation going on and yet everthing is falling into its place.

Bruce Ward is giving a demo for App Speed. Great demo, well recieved by the crowd. Lots of product announcement around V-Cloud.

Next coming up demo of 3-D application on VDI.

First Day at VMworld 2008

Posted by amitabhc Sep 15, 2008

It was a great first day for VMworld 2008. Lots of happy crowd. The  lab sessions had already started, with very good attendance.

For us there were lots of meetings. It started off with a meeting for general session to go through some of the items that may come up during the keynote address.

We also had a meeting with VMworld Europe team to co-ordinate our work for the upcoming VMworld Europe 2009 at Cannes.

The Solution Exchange opened at 5:30 PM and there was already a big crowd at the exhibition hall.

The booths were all set up and all our merchandise had arrived as

expected. The Communities and Blogger Lounge is a great booth. We got to meet a lot of the blogger and community members.  Lots of folks turned out at the community booth to redeem their Virtual Exhibitor contest ticket. A quick meeting with the Event team, headed out to meet the communities members at the V-Bar at Venetian.

Ended the day early for the keynote address.

Hopefully I am able to post picture soon

At Vegas

Posted by amitabhc Sep 14, 2008

The flight got in time, and it was a great flight. I was sitting with a VMware customer and he was all praises for our product. His interest did peek up on the news of the next product release.

It is super hot here at Vegas. However found out that my hotel has been changed to Palazzo, which is a newer hotel. Great rooms, got online to check few things for tomorrow. Heading out to get registered for the event.

I will now be adding picture taken during the convention.

Boarding flight to Vegas

Posted by amitabhc Sep 14, 2008

Reached airport with no hassle. Surprised to see no traffic at the ariport. Passing through security was a breeze. as I was not the "randomly" selected passenger for a more thorough screening. I just downloaded my flight iterniary to my cellphone and avoided printing out the e-ticket.

Waiting at the airport, and configuring my out of office message, confirming keynote address meeting. Hopefully I am able to post pictures later tonite.

Almost done

Posted by amitabhc Sep 14, 2008

Spent the day . mostly getting some rest and packing my bags. My wife did most of the packing and I just had to a bag. Apparently my bags are full, which means I have no space for any of the c'hachkis' from vmworld. Good reason not to collect unwanted stuff which otherwise is called junk.

Besides, got the camera and have it  set for charging. Which got me clean the SD card and transfer exsiting images to my USB drive. Hopefully sometimes this year,I get time to go through them and uploade to my album.

Plan to work with Tony to make a couple of changes in preparation of the keynote address.

Countdown to VMworld 2008

Posted by amitabhc Sep 13, 2008

Still working on the last minute requests for the key note address. IM with Tony Dunn while we both continue to burn the proverbial mid-night oil.

It has been a busy couple of weeks leading to VMworld, but we have managed to put together all the programs designed around VMwold.com users during the conference.

Next task, is to send tweets.

I intend to write blog and tweet for the next whole week while attending the conference.
