Virtual NIC driver problem on Virtual machine with Windows VISTA os

Hi,

I have virtual infrastructure of 100 virtual machine with 5 ESX server 3.0. Virtual machines are hosted with different os's of windows (xp, 2k3, 2k, vista etc).

I have a problem with virtual machine with vista as operating system. Even though the vnic is properly configured, windows vista does not recognize the driver installed for vnic. The vnic driver is e1000.

I have tried adding another nic but same is the issue with that too. Because of this issue I am unable to connect this virtual machine to network.

What could be the possible problem and how to update or change driver for vnic in virtual machine?

Or if there is any workaround to handle this issue.

Thanks,

Hiren

Hi,

Can you try completely uninstalling vmware tools and re installing again, make sure after the uninstallation you reboot the vm and after that install it and reboot the machine.
