What happens if power is lost to a VMware ESX Server 3i?

I have a VMware ESX Server 3i that is currently connected to a APC SMART-UPS 2200. In the event of a power outage the server can run on the UPS for about 10 minutes and then the UPS will power off. I have been unable to find any automatic solution that will allow for a graceful shutdown of an ESX Server 3i from the UPS. Has anyone been able to find a solution?

What would happen if the server suddenly lost power when the UPS truns off? i can't imagine that this woudl be a good thing. I can use APC Powerchute network shutdown to shutdown all the guest machines, but is there any risk to killing the power to the host?

thanks,

Ryan
