Authorization Required: VMworld 2008 Attendees Only

Hi all,

I've been trying to access VMworld 2008 sessions, but I always get an error like this:

VMworld 2008 Attendees Only

This session or lab is accessible for VMworld 2008 paid attendees only. If you did attend VMworld 2008, please sign in with the same username/password used for the conference registration. This content will also be available to paid attendees of VMworld Europe 2009. And VMworld 2008 attendees will have access to VMworld Europe 2009 content.

For non-attendees, please check back over time as selected sessions and labs will be made free each month until all sessions and labs are free by the start of VMworld 2009.

For any questions regarding access, please contact us.

The thing is I AM a paying attendee!!!

I've tried all sorts of solutions I've seen here, like logging in to the VMworld home page first rather than going directly to the sessions page. Also deleted all related cookies. No luck. I've reset my password. Still no luck. Sent them an email but no reply. This is driving me mad!!!

Anyone experienced this and if yes were you able to workaround it?

TIA

Re: Authorization Required: VMworld 2008 Attendees Only

I'm experiencing the same thing and can't get around it.  The only other thing that I've noticed is that when I sign in it always gives me a link in my similar or buddy list that is to another profile of myself which I cannot use to log into vmworld, but I can use to log into the vmware site.

When I go and fill out the form from the contact us link, I get no response and the other link that's provided on that page gives me a 404 page not found.

It is unfortunate that they are not giving us some point of contact to rectify this situation.  I hope that they will contact us via this thread and try to bring some resolution to the problem.

Re: Authorization Required: VMworld 2008 Attendees Only

Hi Joao, Mark, Paul and to any VMworld 2008 attendees who read this thread,

Many attendees have reported issues with a intermittent bug that we are working to resolve.   What seems to be happening is when attendees click to view VMworld 2008 contentand then sign in "after this"the restricted access notice is returned. Try going back to www.vmworld.com/community/sessions/2008/ and reloading your browser to be sure you are signed in with the same username/password used for VMworld 2008.  Then click to "view" content again. This seems to correct the account caching issue for most attendees.

To avoid this issue, be sure to sign in prior to clicking to view VMworld 2008 sessions and labs.  If additional access issues occur for anyone who attended VMworld 2008, be sure you are using your correct username/password from the conference (some people have multiple accounts).

Sorry for any inconvenience and stay tuned for additional features, content and improvements coming to VMworld.com soon.

Cheers,

~Tony

Re: Authorization Required: VMworld 2008 Attendees Only

I am having problems accessing the keynote sessions from Martiz and Herrod.  These are the ones specifically hosted by on24.  The browser keeps sending me back to a registration page (even though I have already registered and logged in).  FYI, I am not having any problems accessing the other sessions/labs (which require the vmworld username/password).  Any guidance/help is much appreciated.

Re: Authorization Required: VMworld 2008 Attendees Only

Confirmed personally that the content "authorization required" bug still exists as of today, 10/20/08.

Frustrating that it's complaining that you need to be a registered attendee, yet if their back-end database was working properly, they would have seen that we are all registered attendees.

PLEASE FIX THIS BUG IN YOUR WEBSITE, VMWARE!!

And still this is not working.

Come on guys - we paid a lot of money for the conference - don't you think this should get a little more priority please

Thanks
