Re: ChipPC giveaway... too good to be true?
Jason,
Your right. I experienced the same thing. ChipPC told us at their booth that the units where going to be mailed to us for free. Period, no questions asked. I'm disappointed with ChipPC, by the fact that they do not stand by their word and only mislead us without being upfront and honest about the whole thing.
I just got an e-mail from ChipPC, asking me to go to an Online Demo, and then afterwards I'll get the free XtremePC product. Sorry ChipPC, you just lost yourself a customer. If you can't deliver at the Conference upfront to give your product for free to consumers, what makes me think you are going to deliver online?
That makes two of us Jason, I'm pretty sure that we are not alone on this one!
Next time, I'll check out some other products that are going to deliver free products, right on the spot.
Larry

this isn't directly related to your post, but I was wondering if ChipPC was demoing their previously announced "Plug PC"?

Re: ChipPC giveaway... too good to be true?
Not yet... I figure $12 bucks for shipping will buy USPS priority mail, which averages 3 to 4 days. I got confirmation from ChipPC that they received my fax on October 2nd. Still waiting...
Hey, I'm willing to pay for shipping, too. I just wish ChipPC was upfront about the promotion in the first place. ~Jason
Re: ChipPC giveaway... too good to be true?
One of the things that bothers me is the "FAX THIS FORM TO..."
Sheesh, you'd think these guys had heard of online fulfillment or secure processing.
I'm not worried about CC numbers being snagged at OUR end, but why, oh why, do we FAX a company CC number to them?
So... does it make me too old to qualify if I worry about physical security more than online security?

Re: ChipPC giveaway... too good to be true?
It's been 2 weeks since I sent my fax with credit info to chip pc. I have received nothing from them. I have been using Sun's sunray thin client and will be sticking with that. What sold me was the built in smart card reader allowing me to do some serious hot desking. http://www.sun.com/sunray
Re: ChipPC giveaway... too good to be true?
I have not received my unit yet either. This is starting to get long in the tooth. More and more this seems to be working like a rebate program. I hate rebate programs. I usually get screwed by rebate programs. It would seem ChipPC is beginning to show signs of fulfillment process issues.
I faxed in my form with credit card info on 10/1.
I sent the company an email this morning voicing my concerns and dissatisfaction.

Re: ChipPC giveaway... too good to be true?
I received my unit this morning, but whats concerning to me is the paperwork said to have the unit shipped back by 11/13/2008. So I have emailed Chip PC to ask about that - I thought this was a free eval unit to keep - If not, why ask for shipping and I need more than 30 days to eval anyway....
UPDATE : I received my reply, turns out the form is generic from their regular eval program and they are not expecting the units back. So it took some time but they came through - So, it seems Chip PC is a good company to deal with.... Matt has been great in communications.

Generic form? Sounds more like the wrong form. I guess it's a good thing that they are not in the healthcare business.
I got a reply back from ChipPC containing an apology and they said my unit would ship within a week.
