Re: How much does SAN-based snapshots and the replication software cost?

With HP SAN additional licenses are required to utilise snapshots and/or replication.

Business Copy does snapshots and comes in 1 TB, 2 TB and unlimited licenses per array. Costs vary but expect to pay between $8000 and $15,000.

Continuous Access does cross site mirroring and comes in 1 TB, 2 TB and unlimited licenses. It requires a license for each site. I haven't seen a quote for these but I would expect they are more the Business Copy.

BTW Licenses are not transferable:

Q13. Can I move my HP StorageWorks Business Copy EVA Software license to another of the same model?

A13. No, Business Copy EVA Software licenses are non-transferable. If you are upgrading between models, there are license upgrade options available.
