I concur - on all four points.
yes
yes
yes and
yes.
Any other problems that I have had so far are more an issue with Sands. Oh, and if anyone has found a red blackberry pearl, please turn it in at one of the four possible lost and found areas, none of which communicate with each other.
Make all the slides availaible zipped on an ftp share as soon as the event begins or is finished
6. Isolate Birds of a Feather sessions to enclosed areas that are void of the chaos of the conference. Locating them in the Virtual Plaza made them all but useless.
6a. BOF sessions, horrible location, the mics were useless...also description didnt parttake to the topic subject, I mean our Instructor basically started out by saying "what do you want to talk about today?"
7. My complaint is layout of these rooms...perhaps place rooms widthwise vs lenghtwise, the ergonomics for the room layout made not only people who sat in the back impossible to see, but also a pain to enter the room. You either had to cross rows or listen to the annoying scanners in the right or left of your ear.
8. Have actual ropes indicating lines for entry and scanners outside of the room.
9. Course surveys, couldnt this be done online through the class's you registered? No one actually took the time to fill in the dots, and going green by wasting tons of non-reecyclable paper for them???
I like the USB thumb drive idea better than FTP. I don't know about anybody else, but I had a heck of a time getting internet access throughout the whole week. And it would have been great to look through the lab material ahead of time, as you do end up a bit pressed for time during the two hour lab.
My three ideas:
1. There was decent seating available on floors 2-5 for taking a break between presentations. Some seating on floor 1 would have been nice.
2. Set up a couple of stations with box lunches. It was a bit of a hike to go from the sessions, get lunch, eat, and get to the next session in under 30 minutes. Or was I supposed to not schedule sessions at lunch?
3. Last year I complained that three days wasn't long enough. This year they made it four, but the first day was all partner stuff and labs which were full before I could register. Other than the Solutions Exchange reception, this effectively held the conference at 3 days. It would have been nice if I could have at least roamed the Solutions Exchange on Monday if I couldn't go to sessions or labs.
This was my second VMWorld, and I think I'm learning a bit more about how to schedule my sessions. There are some sessions that I have an interest in that I should just plan to watch the videos in a few weeks when I get back, and others that I want to be there for. Trying to schedule sessions all day w/o breaks is something I won't repeat if I am lucky enough to attend my 3rd VMWorld next year.
