Re: VMWorld 2008 -Canadians

Coming down from Edmonton, Alberta

Like a few others, this is my first VMWorld, so I'm not 100% sure on what to expect! Of course, the fact that it's in Vegas certainly adds to the appeal!

I'm staying at Paris

My employers didnt want me to bring a laptop by fear of it being held at customs. Anyone else had similar issues with their companies?

Re: VMWorld 2008 -Canadians

On a different note... I'm not a big traveller, so I have no clue what to do when I get there. I'm arriving on sunday around 3pm, by the time I checkin at the hotel (they just changed my booking from the Venetian to the Palazzo) I'll be looking for something to do I know it's a big place, lots of things to see but what? And then monday, I'm on the waiting list for all the labs. Should I even bother or take a day to visit? If anyone is in the same situation and wants to team up, let me know!

I'm bringing a laptop as well, hopefully it goes well through customs.

it sounds like we have very similar schedules, I'm arriving 8am bright and early on Sunday. I'm on the waiting lists for a couple of labs which I don't expect to get in, so I'm going to peruse the pavillion and use Monday to walk around at my own pace and try my luck at the Roulette or Craps tables.

There's nothing on my laptop but Windows VPN client, and VMware Workstation.

Sounds a lot like my plans.  Going to hit the pavilion, VMware store, and jsut scout out the place for the rest of the week.

Re: VMWorld 2008 -Canadians

Jason Langdon, his wife, and myself are thinking of meeting up on Sunday afternoon/evening if you're up for an informal meet and greet.

If so, drop a private message to either of us and we can coordinate that way.

Woohoo, more people from etown!. I'm not getting there until monday at noon, so i'm pretty much just walking around in the afternoon checking stuff out, then hitting the reception at 5. Maybe hit up the pavillion for some goodies.....

Craig from Calgary, also flying the solo route as a first timer to VMWorld. Let me know if people are organizing a gathering. There is an official one Tuesday night that I know of, not sure if everyone is attending that.
