Ok. So I am editing my question into an answer..

I was wondering how to get my VI Client to just login using my AD credentials, and I finally rediscovered the answer.

I found it simple enough to add the bolded part to the target for my desktop icon.

.....

"C:\Program Files\...\VpxClient.exe" *-s VCServerName -passthroughAuth*

...where VCServerName is the name or IP address of the VirtualCenter server.
