Desktop Virtualization Success Stories - VDM shortcomings?

I am looking for folks coming to VMWorld with Success (or lessons learned) with using VMWare as a VDI solution.  We are in the heart of a proof of concept using VMware ESX and testing several connection broker software.  At this point, we are very very happy using ESX but are re-visiting the connection brokers - VMWares VDM produces very inconsistent results and is somewhat frustrating.  We are looking at VDIWorks, Leostream and Ericomm.

I would like to hear your stories - succes, failure, lessons learns, What products you are using.  Maybe even set a night or lunch to have an open discussion.    Russell - Quest Diagnostics, Inc.

Hey Russell -

Try marrying any of those brokers or even a simple RDP session with Thin Desktop from ThinLaunch Software.

Perhaps it will simplify and eliminate some of the underlying issues that may be affecting your success!

Russell, on Thursday I just solved a problem with a VMware customer that was struggling to implement VDI.  They had great success virtualizing their servers on ESX, but VDI offered performance challenges they did not expect.  They are still using ESX as their hypervisor for VDI, but the broker has changed vendors. The summary is here:
