Future of VCB?

Now that SRM has been released, do you think there's any future of VCB? Or will VCB still be supported for customers not requiring a full DR restore?

Re: Future of VCB?

Hi,

can you tell about info of SRM?

I think that VCB is not very "easy" to implement in a very large enviroment..

What is it SRM?

I would find a solution for enterprise site. Do you know Avamar (EMC), vRanger...can you tell something about your experience?

Thank in advance

Andrea.

Re: Future of VCB?

I doubt VCB will go anywhere.  It's currently the only option for backing up ESXi.  SRM isn't a backup, it's a service to monitor SAN replication to a DR site so you can get your VM's up and running in the event of a disaster, it's unrelated to VCB.

BTW, I will be giving a session at VMware on Wednesday at 2:30 and again at 4 on VMware Disaster Recovery solutions, including Veeam Backup.

VCB is here to stay, as Doug said. I expect we will see new features and continued support from VMware. However I do also hope that VMware open up an API to allow other vendors to add more value in the space.

Re: Future of VCB?

I tried to sign up for your session at 2:30 on wed, but was only able to be added to the waiting list. Hopefully I'll be able to get in.
