SRM is VMWware's new Site Recovery Manager. It's supposed to do entire Disaster Recovery from site to site using VI3. I think this is an entirely separate product from VCB, so I think VCB will continue to be supported, but I'm not sure. I've read up on Avamar, and they have pretty cool data de-duplication products, but are pricey. No experience on vRanger, sorry.
I doubt VCB will go anywhere. It's currently the only option for backing up ESXi. SRM isn't a backup, it's a service to monitor SAN replication to a DR site so you can get your VM's up and running in the event of a disaster, it's unrelated to VCB.
BTW, I will be giving a session at VMware on Wednesday at 2:30 and again at 4 on VMware Disaster Recovery solutions, including Veeam Backup.
