Why are you coming to VMworld?

I'm just curious to know why are people coming to VMworld.  Are there specific things you are looking for?  I don't work for VMworld but I was just thinking today about what I want to get out of the week and I was curious about others.

Re: Why are you coming to VMworld?

Personally I go for the hands-on labs and of course industry discussion.  I do like the Vendor area but sometimes it gets a little old competing for face time for vendor discussion fighting those who are just there for swag (did I just say swag?).

Overall it is pretty overwhelming conference.  There is a ton of paths to take which makes it great...i just wish someone else from my company would go with me, that way I could essentially be in two places at once.  I know they offer the labs and power points online, but getting away from work forces you to focus and reading powerpoints on my free time never seems to happen.

I totally agree, what the show does is get me away from it all, so I can spend some time learning.  I always learn a lot from the sessions and getting peoples perspectvies.  It's like a week off for education.... something not to miss.

This year at Vegas should should just be so cool.   Wish I could get more in, it's just so much going on, and not enough of me to cover it all.

Best show ever though.

Re: Why are you coming to VMworld?

I have to say I am really excited to come to Vegas.  We are running a production ESX 3.5 environment, but I REALLY need to know more about how to harness the power of VMWare to benefit our school.  I work at a local private university and money is always an issue.  VMWare has enabled us to save quite a bit on equipment cost and cooling cost. But we want more out of it.  I am hoping this will show me the way to better utilize what we have.

Re: Why are you coming to VMworld?

We just got into virtualization where I work, and I'm definitely interested in the hands-on labs and just learning as much as I can. We're also always interested in the possiblity of virtualizing the desktop. We looked at Citrix a couple years ago, and it did not work out for our environment. I haven't really seen VMWare's solution yet, and am looking forward to it.

It also doesn't hurt that it's going to be in Vegas, so it should be an all-around good time!

Re: Why are you coming to VMworld?

As a vendor my reasons for attending are a bit different.  I really enjoy the time on the show floor taking to people at various stages of virtualization.  It's a great opportunity for us to get product feedback and also discuss ideas for new products.  I generally don't get to attend many sessions since I'm on the show floor so the partner focus day on Monday is important for me.

Vegas should be great this year!

Re: Why are you coming to VMworld?

My job is to bring new Technologies to my company to keep competitive and effecient.  I am coming to VMworld for the first time.  I am very pumped.  I am looking forward to seeing what the best of the best have to offer.  What is new and hot for the next 12 months.

My company is pretty young (12 months) to VMware.   We have things in production and all is working well.  I want to see who is monitoring what in their VM environment and how they are backing things up.  I also what to see what people used to get their physical environment P2V'ed.

See ya all there!

That's also why we are attending . We hope people will think Thin Desktop is the way to virtualize the desktop either with exisingt PC assets or with any flavor of thin client. Check us out in advance at www.thinlaunch.com , or come by and see us in the "New Innovator" area . Booth 540, POD N1

Re: Why are you coming to VMworld?

Why am I coming? Well certainly not because it is an all expenses paid trip to Las Vegas.

I am coming to enhance my knowledge and exposure to the VMware implemenation of server virtualization.

That is my story and I am sticking to it. See y'all there.
