the only thing that is possible right now is to backup the sql database of the vc.

this database holds everything!!!

there is no vmware official way of doing it,but..

if you login to the esx directly,you can export the configuration by pressing:

file>export>export diag data.

after it finishes,unpack the esxconfig*.tgz file.

it include all the configuration & path.

in order to restore the config you'll need to stop a lot of services/deamons to replace the files.
