VMware Party - Where/What?

Does anyone know what the VMware Party will be this year?  Do not seem to be able to find anything our about it on the VMworld website.

The guest fee is $275 - which is a bit steep.  Wanted to have any idea before spending that much for a guest to attend.

Thanks for any info!

Rumor has it that it's at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway... I agree that the fee is pretty steep and, IMHO, not worth bringing a guest unless you can drink enough to make it worth your while...

Re: VMware Party - Where/What?

So, $275 just to bring a guest to the VMware party or one day pass to VMware? Is there a possible guest fee for just the party event... $275 is steep.

My cousin was thinking of driving over from LA to visit and I thought the Party day would be perfect.

It does seem a bit steep.

Considering the size of the Venue they picked, I would imagine there would be a concert or something too.  (Last year at Cisco Networkers' party, they had KISS perform)

$275 is more than 2 VIP tickets to a Cirque de Soleil show.  It does have me wondering what else is in store...

Why not go to the Double-Take Software party on Tuesday, Sept 16 which is free? Cluster-Funk (the Double-Take Software band) is playing - and yes, they are REALLY good!

It's being billed as a customer appreciation party but it's also for wannabe customers! Here are the details...

Tuesday, September 16, 2008 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Nine Fine Irishmen at New York - New York

The Strip, Las Vegas, NV

Registration is required: http://www.doubletake.com/misc/vmworld08.aspx

Re: VMware Party - Where/What?

So is the party from 1pm to 5 pm or does it start at 7pm?   The build a schedule has it down for 1-5 with transportation after the party has gotten over.   I think there is an error with the scheduler

Ooooh, that's excellent. Do I have to be using your products to be invited?

Does anyone know of more parties?  I'm going to spam my vendors and see what they have, and I'l get their okay to post it here.  Not generally a party person but last year VMware had an awesome time, regretted the lack of sleep every day greatly but still totally looking forward to it.

Re: VMware Party - Where/What?

Hah, if I had carefully read your initial post I would have seen your initial invite info.

And I do qualify as "wannabe customer " though I would discourage anyone trying to approach me with a heavy sell for the next couple of months... last of several projects wrapping up and my brain set to purge anything not directly related.  However, doubletake products was recommended to me by colleagues to enhance the interesting little setup I have for continuity and DR...

I guess, YAY, that means I come to your party

Re: VMware Party - Where/What?

I saw Cluster Funk a couple of years ago at Microsoft Tech-ed.  It was a GREAT party.  I can imagine how nuts it'll be in Vegas.

One question about a party at Vegas speedway .....  how are they going to mix free booze and driving?  I'm thinking it's not going to happen.
