Virtual Open VMS?

We currently are using alpha servers, can they be virtualized on a windows server? Thanks.

Re: Virtual Open VMS?

In a nutshell - Not on VMware. VMware only supports x86 (or x86-64) architectures.

Re: Virtual Open VMS?

While it is technically feasible to create an Alpha-to-x86 solution using cross-platform virtualization, there is currently not a shipping product available from Transitive or other vendors active in that market. Such a solution would allow applications from OpenVMS/Alpha systems to run unmodified on x86-based servers, at near-native speed and with no need for recompilation. This would allow those legacy workloads to be deployed within VMware virtual machines and thereby experience all of the benefits of virtualization.
