Will Scalent work on any x86 or SPARC system?

And will it work without proprietary hardware (or certified hardware only)?

Re: Will Scalent work on any x86 or SPARC system?

Like VMware ESX, Scalent V/OE does have a hardware qualification list -- but like ESX, we've found Scalent works with most recent x86 and SPARC systems that are equipped with lights-out power management and HBA cards from Emulex or Qlogic.

There's NO (none, zero) proprietary hardware involved in the Scalent solution.  We're software-only.

Our "controller" installs on an x86 box (or 2 or more if you want redundancy), and we can manage x86 and SPARC servers that you want to have run Linux, Windows, Solaris, ESX, or (ahem) other hypervisors.

Of course, we play nicely with Cisco and other switches, EMC / NetApp and other storage, etc.

Also worth noting:  we are resold by EMC and HP, and resold under a "house brand" by Unisys (as "uAdapt").
