no one?
Tim,
Did you try restoring the virtual machine from your backup set and then expanding the disk (making sure you remove snapshots before you expand)?
kinsden,
Yea, I have tried a couple of times now with no success. If I'm understanding this correctly the file named *****000001.vmdk is the snapshot file and it should be gone once you delete the snapshot and the files are committed to the original vmdk file. But I still have the *****000001.vmdk in my directory but the option to remove snapshot is grayed out.
Thanks
The *****000001.vmdk is actually the pointer file to snapshot file which would be *****000001-delta.vmdk
Have you got any -delta files?
I would also suggest deleting ALL the *****000001.vmdk files and retry? Let me know how it goes or if you have got another solution ![]()
kinsden
I don't have any delta files. I'm waiting for VMWare server to be installed on my test server so I can work on this some more. I can't really do much on the working server due to disk space limitations. When I have a test environment in place on Monday I'll try this out.
Thanks for your help.
Okydok..all the best..but I still believe if you delete those 000001 vmdk files, it may work. anyway, will await your reply!!
I have remedied the problem. I had to repair the disk several times using checkdisk, then was able to create a new snapshot. When I removed the new snapshot the old snapshot was also removed at the same time and then I was able to expand my drive and partition.
Thanks for your input.
Tim
