I feel the pain, I looked forward to the run this year thinking it was going to be less than Las Vegas. I understand fuel costs, but wow, that is a lot for a 5K and some water. Considering this is an open course and it is a "Fun" run you would think the cost for transportation and even shirts could have been off loaded by sponsors. I am sure EMC, HP, Dell or I don't know some of the hundreds of vendors at the Exhibit Hall would love to have their names plastered on a hundred or so runners shirts. That is what sponsor ship is all about, but oh well. I still have people ask about my Virtual Run shirt at my runners club. It is cheap marketing in the long run. Keep your customer base happy and they will tell others, make them upset and they will tell everyone.
I will try and get a couple runs in while I am in town.
Who would be interested in meeting on Tuesday morning around 5:30 AM to run across the bridge?
I'm thinking we'd need to get back for the keynote by 7:30 or so to get cleaned up.
I've got my VMworld 2009 Fun Run shirt and I'm seriously thinking that will be my morning/time to run across the bridge, even if I have to take a cab out there.
On the vmworld socialcast site some people have mentioned meeting up Monday morning @ 6AM PST near Marina Blvd. & Old Mason Street by the Exploratorium. The route goes over Golden Gate and back. Here is a link to the route...

Thanks. I like this idea and will try to make it. I appreciate the information.
