Re: VCP5 Course and Certification while at VMWorld 2012
I'm in the same situation and posted a similar inquiry a couple of days ago. From this forum, I've seen similar questions from past conference and found a consistent answer. The VMWorld sessions and hands-on labs do not comprise a substitute for the VCP requirement of attendance at an authorized VMWare training course. While there are education and certification activities at VMWorld's VCP Special Program, I think that those cater to current VCPs who wish to pursue advanced vmware certifications. I plan to attend the vSphere v5.0 fast track course, pass the exam, and shoot for next year's VMWorld conference.

Re: VCP5 Course and Certification while at VMworld 2012
Hi there - I maybe too late for you, but there are pre-conference training sessions happening the week before the event. They start on the Wednesday prior. The Fast Track is being offered, as is thee Optimize & Scale. They both meet the vcp pre-req and if you take them pre-conference, they are 25% off, come w/ a free exam voucher and 30 days or 30 hours of extended access to the course labs...a pretty great deal.
Sorry if I'm too late - but wanted you to know. Especially if your boss is willing to pay - this is a GREAT deal!
Let me know if I can help any other way.
