Session Title:

Virtual Desktop Considerations with 10GbE, Solid State Disk Drives and vStorage Enhanced Deployments

Session Abstract:

Organizations looking to extend the benefits of virtualization beyond servers and storage typically look to client virtualization as the logical next step; however deployment models are still being defined. This can provide significant opportunities to incorporate new technologies such as vStorage enabled SAN virtualization, automated storage tiering, 10GbE and SSD to accelerate deployments while automating protection and speeding client access. This session will cover a joint Dell & VMware® View 4.0 reference architecture project and demonstrate how vStorage enabled SANs will help users improve performance of booting multiple virtual desktops by up to 76%†.  †Based on testing performed by Dell Labs in May 2010 comparing Dell EqualLogic Firmware v. 4.3 to Dell EqualLogic Firmware v. 5.0 with VMware API for Array Integration. Actual performance will vary based on configuration, usage and manufacturing variability.
