Session Title: | Building the Cloud at Los Alamos National Lab: Infrastructure On Demand |
Session Abstract: | Organizations are faced with dwindling IT budgets and pressure to deliver more with less. Evolving today’s data center to meet these new challenges is required to deliver effective solutions to our users. By embracing technologies such as virtualization, IT can deliver increased compute capacity, reduce its footprint and enhance its green IT posture. Los Alamos National Laboratory has evolved its successful technology investment in virtualization into a self service Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) private cloud, providing compute resources on demand to our users thereby bringing the cloud into our data center. Lifecycle Management and Chargeback are key components to a successful cloud computing offering. Hear about Los Alamos National Laboratory’s successful investment in virtualization and the steps we took to deploy DOE’s first IaaS private cloud. |
