Session Title: | How a Strategic Approach to Virtualization Helped IT Organizations in the Public Sector Build a Private Cloud |
Session Abstract: | Virtualization provides a platform to unify technologies, equipment and processes across the entire datacenter. Desktop and disaster recovery silos can become integrated components of a virtual infrastructure which in turn serves as the foundation for a private cloud. In this session, vExpert Steve Kaplan leads a panel discussion on the importance of adopting a strategic approach to virtualization. The three panelists consist of IT leaders from state and local governments who had previously deployed or planned to deploy Hyper-V or XenDesktop before switching to VMware vSphere and View. The panelists will discuss why they chose VMware over Microsoft and Citrix, what architectural decisions they had to make in the design of their network, storage, disaster recovery and desktop infrastructure, and what ROI analysis and methodologies they utilized to obtain approval and funding for building a private cloud. |
