Session Title: | How to Generate Reports out of the vCenter Database
Session Abstract: | The vCenter database contains a wealth of information about your VMware environment, only a subset of which is displayed in the vSphere Client. So how do you safely extract, analyze, and present this data in a meaningful and automated way, without having to resort to expensive reporting solutions? In this session, we will showcase a simple way of leveraging Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to generate comprehensive reports for your VMware environment. We will first walk you through the process of setting up the reporting infrastructure and preparing it for multi-VC reporting tasks. We will then show you how to use some of the free Microsoft SSRS report templates provided by VMware to generate virtualization reports which you can later customize for different audiences or business units in your organization. Some of the report types we will demo include: inventory, utilization, performance, and auditing reports.
