Session Title:

Database Consolidation on vSphere (SQL and Oracle)

Session Abstract:

Database consolidation on vSphere. Can it be done? Why do it?
Database consolidation is not new - for many years, IT has been trying to control the cost and complexity of many SQL and Oracle instances running in production. With vSphere, IT now has a new, simpler, and more efficient option for consolidating these databases.
In this session, VMware and a customer will address common concerns and benefits of this approach:
- Performance of ESX for DB consolidation
- ISV support and licensing considerations (SQL and Oracle)
- TCO impact of software license and infrastructure consolidation
- Advantages of running a database on the internal cloud including dynamic sizing, simpler availability, and faster provisioning
