Efficient and High Performance Virtualization of Oracle Database Environments using vSphere

VMware virtualization provides compelling and powerful advantages for Oracle database environments. These advantages fall into the following three categories:
-Manageability
-Efficiency
-Performance
This session will focus on these three advantage areas and how VMware 4.0 (vSphere) technology further improves the value proposition of VMware virtualization with Oracle. Specific technical topics will include:
-High availability and fault tolerance using VMware DRS and HA cluster in contrast to the similar offerings from other vendors
-Disaster recovery by combining VMware SRM with storage-based replication, again in contrast to alternative offerings
-Virtual provisioning and virtual copies of Oracle database environments for backup and recovery, test / dev / QA cloning, combining the capabilities of VMware with storage-based tools
-Real-world performance test results showing the performance advantages of running Oracle database servers in a virtualized environment using VMware and explaining the usages cases where these performance advantages can be seen
The session will also showcase a set of proven and validated solutions which enable the rapid, reliable and efficient deployment of vSphere for Oracle production environments. These solutions, jointly developed by VMware and EMC, provide the customer will a fully-documented roadmap for implementing VMware with Oracle database. This includes best practices, step-by-step integration guides and reference architectures. These dramatically reduce the risks and complexity of implementing virtualized Oracle database environments using vSphere.
