SAP Scaling with VMware vSphere and IBM x3850 M2

Session Abstract:

The IBM System x3850 M2 server and VMware vSphere 4.0 can tackle the most demanding workloads, including on-line transaction processing with SAP in a virtualized environment. In this session we will present SAP performance and scalability data for both scale-up scenarios (increasing Virtual CPU count) and scale-out scenarios (adding additional Virtual Machines). Along the way, we will detail tuning and optimization best practices for SAP implementation on IBM x3850 M2 in a vSphere environment.
Our results are gathered on an IBM System x3850 M2 server with VMware vSphere 4.0. We use a modern, production-class 64-bit software stack consisting of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008. SAP software includes NetWeaver 7.0 (ABAP) with a unicode kernel and Enhancement Package 4 for SAP ERP 6.0.
