Session Title: | The Virtualization Landscape - A Comparison of Virtualization Offerings |
Session Abstract: | Server virtualization has evolved well past the basic partitioning capabilities of a hypervisor. While a hypervisor can enable simple server consolidation, to fully realize the even more valuable benefits of virtualization, such as the pooling of compute servers, dynamic resource balancing, and high availability, requires a robust and mature virtualization infrastructure. This session will define the core requirements for a true virtualization infrastructure and will discuss how well various virtualization offerings meet those requirements. We will analyze the pros and cons of various approaches to hypervisor architecture, support for virtual datacenter services, management solutions, and support for applications and operating systems. The overall goals are to 1) Provide you with a comprehensive framework for evaluation of alternative virtualization offerings, and 2) Enable you to make an educated decision as to which virtualization infrastructure will best meet your current and future virtualization requirements. |
