The Idealstor Backup Appliance offers the best of disk and tape by using SATA disks as removable backup media.  Each Idealstor Appliance is a Windows 2003 Server and can act as the backup/proxy server for VMware Consolidated Backup or iBac VIP.  VM backups can be sent straight to the Idealstor removable disks which can be left in the system for nearline storage or physically removed like a tape for offsite storage of critical data.
