Session Title: | Virtual Desktop Infrastructure: Adoption & Implications |
Session Abstract: | Few technologies in recent memory have made as much of an impact on IT infrastructure and processes as server virtualization. The benefits of virtualization, however, can extend well beyond physical server environments and as such, it is critical that businesses consider the impact of this "game-changing" technology across the entire IT infrastructure. Today, an enormous amount of time and money is spent supporting and managing the end-user's desktop operating environment, a situation that is becoming even more challenging due to the increasing globalization of the workforce, remote work agreements, and ever-tightening IT budgets. In this environment, it is a daily struggle for IT to keep pace with application updates, software patches, security vulnerabilities, and general help desk requests. What's more, regulatory compliance mandates and information security concerns have made effective desktop management an even higher priority as companies look to "lock down" desktops to minimize business and legal risk. |
