Session Title:

On-ramp to VMware Infrastructure using VMware Server

Session Abstract:

The majority of VMware Server users are small and medium companies, who have lower number of servers to consolidate and even fewer IT administrators to manage them. However, as their business continuity needs increase and they look to automate their IT infrastructure, they are increasingly looking to easily migrate their virtual machines to VMware Infrastructure 3.
This session describes the architectural evolution of VMware Server. With its implementation of the VMware Infrastructure API, VMware Server 2.0 enables a smooth transition for users when moving up to the more advanced features of VMware Infrastructure 3. This architecture change allows for single pane of management for VMware Server and ESX Server hosts under VirtualCenter.
This session also provides an overview of the new capabilities of VMware Server 2.0, in particular new platform functionality and the new web-based user interface.
