Session Title:

Managing Complexity: An Approach to Enterprise Virtualization Deployment and Operations in a Global Environment

Session Abstract:

Accenture has for their internal application hosting several data centers in all main regions encompassing ~2500 of servers. In 2006 Accenture embarked on a major initiative to optimize its growing data center and server footprint using virtualization. With Accenture's Next Generation Data Center reference architecture as a blueprint, Accenture has completed phase one of its virtualization capability build-out and application migrations of its internal IT Organization. Accenture is embarking on the next phase of global deployment of virtualization to encompass production environments of business critical applications.
In this presentation, Accenture will highlight the current benefits derived from utilization of VMware and a roadmap for enterprise-wide adoption of virtualization and at the same time highlight the challenges to operate and manage an Enterprise-class VMware environment. Best practices around its global support organization and operations management will be discussed in the context of Accentures VMware Operations Maturity Model.
