Session Title:

Virtualizing Mission Critical Enterprise Applications

Session Abstract:

IT leaders routinely commit to the business that they can reliably support critical services, using techniques like HA, Disaster Recovery and Horizontal Scalability. Can virtualization be used to increase our confidence about making our agreed upon service levels for such applications? In this talk, we argue that the answer is yes virtualization can not only augment our standard approaches for achieving high availability and scalability to the enterprise, it can also reduce the challenges involved in managing this applications. Specifically, we outline how standard best practices for deploying such applications can be mapped to the virtual world. We also discuss how such virtualized business services can be tracked in an ITIL enterprise. And finally, we give a glimpse of how new features in VMware infrastructure can further add value to this critical class of workloads.
