Session Title:

Server and Storage Sizing Best Practices for VMware VDI

Session Abstract:

As organizations begin to move their desktops into the data center questions often arise on how to size the hardware necessary to run their infrastructure. This session will present a methodology for analyzing a desktop environment and using the findings to help drive decisions about storage and server requirements. We'll overview profiling and simulating desktop workloads, analyze sizing data, and propose a systemic building-block method for planning VDI deployments. Experiments were run at VMware and Dell labs to host 100s of desktop VMs on multiple servers with various storage configurations. Results and best practices for sizing of VDI deployments will be proposed based on analysis of these scenarios.
