Session Title:

Meditech Virtualization - HCA.s Story of Virtualizing This Critical Hospital Application Suite

Session Abstract:

HCA has recently virtualized their Meditech hospital patient care systems. This effort has taken the core clinical application set and reduced its physical footprint from 1100 servers to 160 servers. The Meditech system is the critical enterprise suite that provides for the direct care and safety of patients in over 165 HCA hospitals around the United States. HCA's journey to virtualize Meditech began several years ago and is seen as a major milestone in the healthcare IT arena. This break out session will discuss what drove HCA to explore virtualization; cost savings of going virtual; the process of developing the virtualized environment; and what a virtualized Meditech MAGIC environment consists of.
