Session Title: | Creating Agile Data Centers: Real World Problems and Real World Solutions |
Session Abstract: | Many customers struggle with the need to migrate a guest from one virtual data center to another. Often the data centers do not share IP subnets and are in different SAN zones, so a live migration isn't possible. Quest Diagnostics has devised a "Gateway" architecture that allows live migration to cross these boundaries. A VMware Infrastructure 3 gateway host spans IP subnets or SAN zones allowing VMotion & Storage VMotion to occur indirectly (from source to gateway to destination). This allows for live migration with no application outage, while maintaining isolation between data centers. |
