Session Title:

Web-tier Consolidation Using VMware Infrastructure

Session Abstract:

Enterprises continue to move their technologies and services onto the web.
VMware Infrastructure 3 can help businesses to build a highly scalable and successful web computing platform that can enable web applications to dynamically grow in size while still meeting the stringent performance requirements.
In this talk, we will describe the processes and tuning methodologies we used to build a highly scalable web computing platform using VMware Infrastructure. We evaluated our approach by comparing the performance and scaling aspects of the widely deployed Apache/PHP web serving software in both conventional native environment and VMware Infrastructure environment using industry standard SPECweb2005 workload.
Test results show that our approach yields better scaling and a higher system level throughout performance than the native environment. We also validate our approach using other popular web serving environments including IIS as well as JSP deployments.
