Getting ESX Server 3 Hardware Physical Alerts into Microsoft Operations ManagerPresenter:
VMwareOrganizations using Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) as the Enterprise Event Management console platform of choice need to ensure that the Hardware Alerts from your servers running ESX Server are also managed from this console to reduce the number of management consoles required. These physical hardware alerts include power supply, fan failure, raid array, pending failures and physical drive pre-failure warranty hardware alerts. It is very important to make sure any hardware alerts on the ESX Server host are forwarded to the management console.
This session describes the options available to ensure these physical server hardware-based alerts are communicated into MOM. Traditionally, using SNMP-based alerts from the servers with MOM has been difficulty due to MIB integration. Obtaining valid MIBs or integrating the hardware management console into MOM was troublesome. This session will also discuss options specific to Dell, HP and IBM hardware.
